She waited for what was around the corner.
Good things?
Bad things?
Honestly, she had no idea this time.
She just knew something was coming,
Her heart was tethered by anxiety.
Her body felt restless and tense.
She craved human touch,
Anything to soften the grip.
This was all very real to her.
She connected to the unknown...
She waited.
She felt weighted.
Stephanola, I like the use of weighted. I often feel weighted while waiting. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote that poets are the "namers" and "sayers" who can put into words what we have difficulty expressing. I think you fulfilled Emerson's description with this poem.

Janieola, thank you. I'm glad you liked it. I haven't felt able to express myself both in person and via writing in quite some time. It felt really good to be able to sit down and get my thoughts out there and put a name to what I'm feeling. I've felt quite emotionally disconnected lately.
DeleteLove to you!
